Powerful Ways to Boost Your Confidence

Self-confident people are admired by others and inspire confidence in others. They face their fears head-on and tend to be risk takers. They know that no matter what obstacles come their way, they have the ability to get past them. Self-confident people tend to see their lives in a positive light even when things aren’t going so well, and they are typically satisfied with and respect themselves.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to have this kind of self-confidence, every day of the week? Guess what? You can.
1. Stay away from negativity and bring on the positivity
This is the time to really evaluate your inner circle, including friends and family. This is a tough one, but it’s time to seriously consider getting away from those individuals who put you down and shred your confidence. Even a temporary break from Debbie Downer can make a huge difference and help you make strides toward more self-confidence.
Be positive, even if you’re not feeling it quite yet. Put some positive enthusiasm into your interactions with others and hit the ground running, excited to begin your next project. Stop focusing on the problems in your life and instead begin to focus on solutions and making positive changes.
2. Change your body language and image
This is where posture, smiling, eye contact, and speech slowly come into play. Just the simple act of pulling your shoulders back gives others the impression that you are a confident person. Smiling will not only make you feel better, but will make others feel more comfortable around you. Imagine a person with good posture and a smile and you’ll be envisioning someone who is self-confident.
Look at the person you are speaking to, not at your shoes–keeping eye contact shows confidence. Last, speak slowly. Research has proved that those who take the time to speak slowly and clearly feel more self-confidence and appear more self-confident to others. The added bonus is they will actually be able to understand what you are saying.
Go the extra mile and style your hair, give yourself a clean shave, and dress nicely. Not only will this make you feel better about yourself, but others are more likely to perceive you as successful and self-confident as well. A great tip: When you purchase a new outfit, practice wearing it at home first to get past any wardrobe malfunctions before heading out.
3. Don’t accept failure and get rid of the negative voices in your head
Never give up. Never accept failure. There is a solution to everything, so why would you want to throw in the towel? Make this your new mantra. Succeeding through great adversity is a huge confidence booster.
Low self-confidence is often caused by the negative thoughts running through our minds on an endless track. If you are constantly bashing yourself and saying you’re not good enough, aren’t attractive enough, aren’t smart enough or athletic enough, and on and on, you are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. You are becoming what you are preaching inside your head, and that’s not good. The next time you hear that negativity in your head, switch it immediately to a positive affirmation and keep it up until it hits the caliber of a self-confidence boost.
4. Be prepared
Learn everything there is to know about your field, job, presentation–whatever is next on your “to conquer” list. If you are prepared, and have the knowledge to back it up, your self-confidence will soar.
5. For tough times, when all else fails: Create a great list
Life is full of challenges and there are times when it’s difficult to keep our self-confidence up. Sit down right now and make a list of all the things in your life that you are thankful for, and another list of all the things you are proud of accomplishing. Once your lists are complete, post them on your refrigerator door, on the wall by your desk, on your bathroom mirror–somewhere where you can easily be reminded of what an amazing life you have and what an amazing person you really are. If you feel your self-confidence dwindling, take a look at those lists and let yourself feel and be inspired all over again by you.

Tips For Underwater Shooting With Gopro

1. Take away the blurriness.
“Don’t assume your GoPro is ready to shoot video underwater. There’s a difference between the HERO3 and the earlier models. If you’ve got a HERO or HERO2 you will need an aftermarket flat lens as the standard GoPro housing won’t focus underwater.”
Also, “Sometime the best photos can be ruined by a mischievously positioned air bubble. If you spray the outside of your camera lens or port with the same liquid that’s used to stop your mask fogging up, any air bubbles trying to hitch a ride on your camera will be miraculously sent to the surface where they belong.”
2. Maintain your Gear
“You spend your hard-earned wages on a beautiful new camera and then on the first dive you flood it. Not cool. Water and electronics don’t mix very well.
Whether you’re using a waterproof compact camera or an SLR in an expensive housing, make sure that EVERY time you head underwater you thoroughly check the seals for any sign of dust, dirt, sand or stray hairs.
Buy a tube of silicon grease and apply a light coating to any seal. Water will find its way past the smallest obstruction when under pressure and this is the best way to stop it.
Rinse your camera gear off with fresh water after every dive. Never let salt water dry on your equipment.”
3. Stay shallow to capture the best colour.
“If you dive or snorkel in the first five metres of water the full spectrum of colour remains, eliminating the need for a flash. Try swimming the shallower reefs and you’ll find a mass of marine life hangs out here. On a sunny day an entire kaleidoscope of colour bursts out at you!
Water absorbs light very quickly, and the most common complaint from underwater photographers is the dull blue-grey hue of their images. Colour is lost the deeper you dive — reds for instance, are the first to go.
If you stay above five metres deep you’ll retain almost 100 per cent of the vibrant, natural colour that coral reefs and tropical fish are made of. Below five metres you’ll need to add a colour correction filter to bring back the red part of the colour spectrum that depth removes.”
“For close-up subjects below 20 metres you’ll need to add a wide-angle video light to your setup. This will bring the saturated colour back to life in your video.”
4. Use the sun to your advantage.
“Always try and shoot with the sun behind you, it will help to lighten your subject and bring the full colour spectrum back to your video. On the flip side, it’s sometimes nice to have the sun’s rays punching through the water to add that solar flare effect.”
5. Get close… then get closer!
“GoPros are designed to shoot the widest angle possible in order to catch all the action. When you’re underwater that’s great, until you want to get a close-up of something. Steadily approach your subject until you’re almost on top of it. Sometimes this can take real patience, you get too close and your subject swims away. Perseverance pays off. Removing the amount of water between the camera and the subject will mean a clearer, sharper, and more colourful image.”
6. Steady as she goes.
“Ensure you’ve got your camera connected to something, not just held in your hand; be it a wrist strap, secured to a mount or even locked onto a tripod. That way you’ll be able to watch your footage rather than struggling to recover your GoPro from the ocean floor!”
7. A photographer already?
“Why not mount your GoPro onto your current camera’s housing if you’re down there taking still shots? That way you can shoot video at the same time and never miss any of the action.”
8. LCD or no LCD?
“Yes, it helps you to frame up your shot perfectly, but having the optional LCD BackPac turned on all the time drains battery life at a phenomenal rate. It also warms up the housing very quickly which leads me to my next point…”

Tips On How To Cliff Jump Without Getting Hurt

These are just some general ideas that you should take into consideration. We also recommend that you get a serious training from someone with experience at first and if you are indeed a beginner, start with relatively small cliffs.

1. Don’t go cliff diving alone. Take your friends along, in case something goes wrong. Besides, this way things could be a lot more fun.

2. Make sure you wait for your friends to step out of the water before you decide to make the jump. This will make things easier for you to concentrate and will prevent hurting anyone. If you have a neoprene wetsuit bring it along. If you’re a beginner, bring your sneakers too.

3. Before doing a cliff jump, keep in mind that pressure can be a huge issue and take care of your ears by using a few drops of olive oil or silicone.

4. Check out how deep the water is. You can do that by engaging in a little research on that particular river or lake or simply ask someone that can help you with this information. If you happen to be out in the wild and are in a situation when you have to jump- this is a movie-like scenario, but you never know-, here’s an interesting solution you could try: find some natural vegetation that could be used as a rope, tie it together and then tie a rock at the end of it. This way, by throwing the rock in the water, you will know approximatively how deep it is. If it is less than 4 meters, then it is not safe, so you should search for alternatives. Also, be aware of the tides in the area. If you are a good swimmer, you can try twisting in order to escape the currents.

5.  It is important to start safe. This involves a few things: first off, you must be confident, chickening out is not an option as it could really influence the way you dive. You need to be 100% lucid in order to control your body during the jump. Also, a steady starting place is necessarily in order to look around at first and calculate your jump at your own pace.

6. Make sure you have enough space and time to make your move by calculating the distance and visualize your jump in your head before take off. Start your jump by having your arms tight to the body in a straight position.

7. Jump feet first! It is said that most of the professional cliff divers (in fact, 98% ) dive in this manner, mainly because diving head first is very dangerous.

8.  Learn to enjoy the time spent in the air. This may seem like a crazy advice, but it is a great sensation once you manage to relax. This will of course occur in time. Once your body is loose, you will have more control over it.

9. When your body hits the water, it should have a tight and dynamic shape. Keep your toes stretched and arms very close to your body, so you could slide freely and easily.

10. As you start to come in contact with the water, remember to breathe out through your nose, not to let any water affect your breathing process.

How To Make a GoPro Timelapse Video

  1. Frame It Up Well: The first time I used the GoPro to shoot a time-lapse series I was so excited about what I was doing (with the camera) that I forgot what I was actually doing (shooting images). What I ended up with was 2000 poorly framed and poorly exposed images. Which I deleted after we returned home from the Galapagos. It was a few hours of Galapagos midday sky and water activity – and it would have been beautiful if I had just taken my time setting up the shot.
  2. Use a Tripod: Without a tripod, your images will not blend properly into a watchable video. I travel with a Joby Gorillapod (the one for dSLR cameras) which works well for the GoPro and the much heavier dSLR cameras. This way I don’t have to carry two tripods. The attachments and mounts come with the GoPro kit. To setup like I did below, you’ll just need the Gorillapod – and it’s worth every cent.
  3. Don’t Worry About Every Image: Not every image is going to be good. Don’t worry about it. When you sit down to create your video, you can quickly scroll through the images and delete any that have an extra object. The first image below shows me grasping for a memory card as it fell into the water. The other 2 images show me checking on the GoPro display to make sure it still had enough memory and then taking a photo of the setup with another camera. Because of the number of photos used, you can easily delete the ones that you aren’t happy with – and no one else will know.
  4. Use a Large (and Fast) Memory Card: After reading about it on a number of blogs – I ordered a 32GB Class 10 memory card. While a slower card might be okay for a point-and-shoot camera, the GoPro is made to produce high resolution images very fast. A slower card probably won’t keep up with the incoming new images. And when you are shooting your time-lapse, the last thing you want to worry about is running out of memory.
  5. Be Prepared to Wait: You will need to have patience. Don’t setup a time-lapse unless you have some time on your hands. The video below took 90 minutes of shooting to produce a 30 second video. The settings I used are below. Because I used a good tripod, I was able to walk around, play in the sand with my daughter and walk in the waves with Dena. I’m in a number of the shots.
  6. Take Your Time Editing: Every time-lapse is different. There is no rule that determines what your frame rate playback should be. I have had good success with 15 fps for clouds and sunsets. But this frame rate makes road traffic look like it is hyperactive. Experiment and have fun. You might need to output each set of images a few different ways to see what looks best. And choose some appropriate music. Because a time-lapse is just a bunch of photos, there is no sound. You will need to add something to the clip to keep it alive.

How to Take Photos While Snowboarding

If you’re reading this, you love snowboarding. You love watching snowboarding videos online. You’ve probably thought about making videos of your own adventures on the slopes. But wait! Put down your board, take that GoPro off your head, and read this first.

Abe Alzouman, a professional video editor who specializes in extreme sports, says that if you want your GoPro videos to turn out amazing, you should follow these five tips:
1. Use the right settings!

Abe recommends 720p at the maximum frames per second (fps) your camera allows (that’s 120fps on the latest GoPro model). This is the best setting for super slomo. But if you’re, say, hanging out in your hotel room, cut your fps in half.

This will allow more light to hit each frame and give you a much brighter and better picture,” explains Abe.

Use the maximum fps so you can see your jumps in super slomo. (Works for kiteboarding and snowkiting too!)
2. Use Protune wisely

Protune gives professional editors a much wider range of colours and brightness to work with, but it doesn’t make raw footage look that great. If you know you’re taking your footage to a professional editor, turn Protune on. If you’re editing the video yourself, turn it off.

3. Shoot the same scenes from multiple angles

If you’re shooting your own run, do it a few times with the camera mounted in different positions. If you’re shooting someone else, put yourself in a different filming position on each run. The different versions can be edited together to give the sequence a multi-dimensional look.

Pass the GoPro around and shoot from different positions to make your video multi-dimensional.
4. Take photos, too

Adding photos to your video makes the rhythm more interesting. But don’t use the simultaneous photo and video setting—you’ll lose half your fps. Abe recommends using the 12MP Wide to get the best photo quality. Try the multi-shot settings: Abe likes 5 shots per second (sps) for getting good group photos and 30/2sec for shooting a jump or trick.

5. Get closer

GoPro footage looks best when you’re up close and personal. If you’re filming a friend going off a jump, get as close as you can (assuming you trust your friend’s jumping skills, of course). If you’re shooting from a distance, try to have something stationary in the foreground. Abe says, “Seriously, it looks so much cooler the closer you are to your subjects.”

Follow these tips, and your GoPro footage will look totally pro. Can’t guarantee the same for your boarding skills, though; that’s a whole different post.

How To Take Amazing Photos With Gopro

Today I want to share my best tips with you so that those of you who already have a GoPro can learn from my mistakes, and those of you who aren’t yet convinced that a GoPro is ideal for travel might finally see the light.  If a GoPro isn’t on your wishlist, it might just be the perfect gift for the travel enthusiast or adventure lover in your life so they can save their epic memories, too.

Why You Need to Travel With a GoPro

Travel photos with a GoPro or make Gopro videos around the world have a little something extra, a little bit more excitement than your average travel photo.  One of the features I love most is its ultra-wide angle lens.  It lends a unique perspective to ordinary shots and allows you to get way more of your surroundings in the frame than you would otherwise.  It’s the closest thing I have to a fisheyes, so it comes out whenever I want to capture a lot or want that added distortion.

My Top Tips for Amazing Travel Photos With a GoPro

1. Take tons of photos

Unfortunately, most GoPro models do not have a viewing screen to help you frame your shot perfectly the first time, so you’ll find it’s best to shoot prolifically to ensure that at least one of them comes out the way you want it (models that currently include an LCD screen are the Hero+ LCD and the Hero4 Silver, or you can buy a viewing screen separately).  You’ll have to experiment a bit to get the angle just right–what might feel like slight variations in your hand can produce drastically different results in your photos.  It’s also important to keep unwanted things (and people) out of your periphery.

2. Embrace the Selfie

I wasn’t big on selfies before I got my GoPro, but I think the problem was that I wanted travel photos, not photos of my big fat face and nothing else.  But the wide angle of GoPro lenses allows you to capture so much more than just you, and the results can be pretty incredible.  You don’t even need a selfie stick–in fact, I could hold the camera no more than a foot from my face and still get tons of stuff in the background.  That’s the beauty of the GoPro selfie!  Check out some of my favorite selfies from my travels over the past year.

3. Accessorize

Your GoPro will come with adhesive mounts, allowing you to attach your camera to a number of surfaces, curved or flat.  But it’s fun to switch up the perspective with other accessories, too.  My head strap allows me to get hands-free shots that show things from my point of view, which is awesome for photos but particularly cool when shooting videos.
1) 3-in-1 mount 2) helmet mount 3) flex clamp 4) chest strap 5) smart remote to control your camera from afar 6) dog harness

4. Edit, edit, edit

GoPro photos can look pretty lackluster straight out of the camera, so it’s important to have a good editing solution at your disposal.  If you upload the photos straight to your iPhone, an app like Snapseed could do the trick.  I’ve found that Instagram’s new editing features are more than sufficient as well if your photos are going directly there.

5. Recharge often

If you ask me, the biggest downside to GoPro cameras is that the battery life is quite short, especially when shooting video.  If I ever use my GoPro two days in a row, I always have to charge it in between.  If you plan to use it for long stretches of time, it might be worthwhile to invest in a portable power pack, extra batteries, or a GoPro dual battery charger.

6. Keep Your Lens & Case Smudge Free

There’s nothing worse than realizing after a day of shooting that your lens or case has been smudged the whole time.  I don’t even know how it happens sometimes, but now I always give both the camera and the inside and outside of my case a good swipe with a microfiber cloth.

How To Establish Perfect Relationship With Dog

Many of us could use a relationship makeover with our dogs at times, many behavior issues arise from some aspect of the dog to owner relationship.  When it comes to changing and improving our relationship with our dogs it’s important to remember that spoiling them, giving them treats,  or showering them with new toys is not the answer.  Sometimes it takes committing to structure, discipline, and leadership to give our dogs what they need.  Depending on the specifics of your current relationship, here are somethings that can help improve your relationship with your dog.
Pick up the food bowl and stop free feeding your dog.  There are a lot of important components that go into feeding your dog, and free feeding is a relationship killer.  In the dog’s mind he doesn’t need you to provide him with that very important resource.  Start scheduled feeding times with your dog and do not waiver!
Go for a walk and bond with your dog.  Going for a structured and organized walk with your dog is a great way to get exercise and spend some quality time with your dog.  Walks should be in a controlled position of the dog walking next to you and while it’s ok to stop for a potty break, don’t let your dog sniff every blade of grass and pee on every pole – keep moving forward!  BTW, having a large backyard does not cancel out the benefits of a structured walk.
Pick up the toys and take control of that resource (this is especially important if you are living with multiple dogs). Your dog needs to look to you to provide them with the good things in life.  When you want your dog to enjoy his toys, select a few toys and present them to the dog, don’t just leave them out and available all of the time.
Teach them something and get their minds working.  Providing mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise, you would be surprised at how quickly a dog will get tired after a nice training session.  Teach your dog to lay down, shake, or another trick, even the entry level skills are great ways to get your dog’s mind working.
Create some space between you and your dog.  By this I mean get the crate out of your bedroom, leave your dog home alone once in a while, and let them exist without you, we don’t always have to be touching our dogs.  Some cases of separation anxiety can be easily prevented if some level of separation and space are implemented.  Also, sometimes our dogs are fine being left alone, but it’s the human that is the one suffering from the separation anxiety!
Stop treating them like children and realize that they are dogs.  Although certain aspects of raising children and dogs share many things in common, dogs are not furry children.  Dogs need to be treated like dogs in order to flourish.
Forget the past and focus on the present and future.  This is especially true if you have a rescue dog with a not so pleasant past, we can’t change anything that has already happened to them.  Coddling them and spoiling them will not make things undo things and make them right.  It’s important to move on and provide them with the correct interactions and leadership.

What Benefits of Being a Dog Owner

1. GET SICK LESS!

If our cleaning commercials are to be believed, humanity is in the midst of a war against germs—and we won’t stop until every single one is dead. In reality, the amount of disinfecting we do is making us sicker; since our bodies are exposed to fewer germs we can’t build up immunities to them. Fortunately, dogs are covered in germs! Having a dog in the house means more bacteria enters the home and gets inside the occupants (one study found “dog-related biodiversity” is especially high on pillowcases.) In turn, people with dogs seem to get ill less frequently and less severely than people with cats or no pets.

2. RESISTANCE TO ALLERGIES!

While dogs can be one of the worst triggers for people with allergies, growing up in a house with a dog makes children less likely to develop allergies over the course of their lives. Even if you were just a fetus when your mother lived with a dog, you are still less likely to be bothered by animal hair and dander, or to develop eczema as an adult.

3. BE HAPPIER!

Dog owners are less likely to suffer from depression than non-pet owners. Even for those people who do become clinically depressed, having a pet to take care of can help them out of a depressive episode, in some cases more effectively even than medication. Since taking care of a dog requires a routine and forces you to stay at least a little active, it is harder to stay inside feeling down all the time. The interaction with and love received from a dog can also help people stay positive. Even the mere act of looking at your pet increases the amount of Oxytocin, the “feel good” chemical, in the brain.

4. BETTER HEART HEALTH!

Everything about owning a dog seems to lend itself to better heart health. Just the act of petting a dog lowers heart rate and blood pressure. A Chinese study found that people who own dogs get better sleep at night and are sick less often. Other studies show pet owners have slightly lower cholesterol and are more likely to survive a heart attack.

5. MORE EXERCISE!

While other pets have positive effects on your health as well, dogs have the added benefit of needing to be walked and played with numerous times a day. This means most dog owners get the recommended minimum 30 minutes of exercise a day, lowering their risk of cardiovascular disease and keeping them in better overall shape than cat owners or people without pets.

6. A MORE ACTIVE SOCIAL LIFE!

Polls show people trust others who have dogs more than just random people walking on the street and are more likely to go up and interact with them. Even if you live alone, having a dog has the same emotional benefit as that of a human friendship.

7. CANCER DETECTION!

Your dog could save your life one day. It seems that our canine friends have the ability to smell cancer in the human body. Stories abound of owners whose dogs kept sniffing or licking a mole or lump on their body so they got it checked out, discovering it was cancerous. The anecdotal evidence was later backed up by scientific studies. Dogs are so good at this that some of them are trained to detect cancer, in as little as three hours.

8. A REFLECTION OF YOUR PERSONALITY!

The kind of dog you have tells people a lot about your personality. A study in England found a very clear correlation between people’s personalities and what type of dogs they owned; for example, people who owned toy dogs tended to be more intelligent, while owners of utility dogs like Dalmatians and bulldogs were the most conscientious. Other studies have found that dog owners in general are more outgoing and friendly than cat owners. But be careful: Dogs also take on their owners’ personality traits, so if you fly off the handle all the time, it might explain why your dog is so aggressive.

9. LOWER STRESS AT WORK!

The benefits of bringing a dog to work are so increasingly obvious that more companies are catching on. Studies show that people who interact with a pet while working have lower stress levels throughout the day, while people who do not bring a pet see their stress levels increase over time. Dogs in the office also lead to people taking more breaks, to play with or walk the dog, which makes them more energized when they return to work. This, in turn, has been shown to lead to much greater job satisfaction and productivity.

Funny Games You Should Play With Your Dogs

Let’s face it, while our dogs could probably go for walks and play fetch for hours (or even days) at a time, it gets a little boring to us human companions to do the same thing all the time. Spicing up your activity is good for you and your pooch, because new games certainly keep your pup thinking and tired. If you’re looking for some new games to play, we’ve got some great ones here for you! Remember, all of these games can be played with your old soul seniors or your baby puppies – age doesn’t matter!

#1 – Round Robin Recall

This is extremely easy and can involve all of your family and friends. Simply fill everyone’s hands with some delicious doggy snacks, sit your pup in the middle and have everyone take turns calling them over! Your dog is sure to think this is outstanding fun, because all they have to do is run to people and get treats!

#2 – Find It Games

Find It games are perfect for any type of bad weather. Too hot to leave the air conditioning? Perfect. Too rainy to go outside without needing a bath? Perfect. Too much snow to even move? Perfect. Find It games need nothing more than a room with hiding places and your pup’s favorite snacks. Simply put your dog in another room, hide treats anywhere – in between couch cushions, under tables, behind chair legs – and send your dog in for the search. You might have to guide them along at first, but soon your pup will be using their nose and looking all over the place for treats! You’ll be surprised how fast they find them, too!

#3 – Hide & Seek

Hide and seek is a favorite of many dog owners and can even help improve your recall too. Either leave your dog in a sit or down in another room or have someone hold them, go hide somewhere in your house or yard, and the call or have the other person send your dog to find you. Even more impressive than finding food hidden in the house will be how quickly your dog can find you. Be sure to offer plenty of praise and treats every time your dog finds you, or you won’t be much fun to find anymore.

#4 – Obstacle Course

ou don’t need an agility dog or any agility equipment to set up an obstacle course. In fact, makeshift obstacle courses are sometimes more fun because you’ll get to see how truly agile and environmentally sound your dog is. Use chairs to send your dog under, a milk crate to sit on top or stand in, a plastic kiddie pool to run through (with or without water), a hula hoop to jump through and whatever else you can think of! Teaching your dog any of these tricks will keep them working both their minds and bodies and is sure to be fun for both of you!

#5 – Clean Up

Teaching your dog to clean up is both fun and useful and you can make it as precise as you want. Many people will teach their dogs how to pick up all of their toys and place them in a toy basket just by generalizing the command to “clean up,” while others will actually teach dogs the names of specific items. You can teach your dog to get a red ball or blue ball or even a different toy altogether by using simple positive reinforcement training. Some owners even teach their dogs to pick up trash and put laundry in the washer and dryer!
